Beauty School Dropout
I've gotten tired of the children's haircut game. This is how it's played: you spend $20 for a decent kid's cut and hope that particular stylist can get the cowlick right or you spend half that at a Great Clips or such place, cross your fingers and spend $20 to get it fixed afterward.
Several of my friends do their kid's hair--and after all, most people my age didn't go to a fancy schmancy salon till we were older anyway. So I bought a set of clippers, read the directions, asked my friend Jenn for advice and cut the boy's hair.
The above and below pictures are "Before".
"After" with a number 4 guide. Wonder if they have a 10 guide? The boy loves it! Thank God! His poor little head itches all the time due to extremely dry skin so this should help.
My husband said if he had done this, I would have killed him--and he's right.
Yeah, I really messed up the back.
Thankfully, he's 4 1/2 and doesn't really care that his mom can't cut hair. I am going to a friend's house next week to have her show me how to use the clippers properly and to get his cut fixed.
My husband will not let me near him
The baby is going to the salon.

I think it looks REALLY cute!! ahem, except the back could use a little...shaping...heh heh.
That's not too bad for your FIRST EVER cut. I'm glad he likes it! This "style" is much easier to maintain, once you get the hang of it.
Great job! I cut my son and husband, and it really saves the bucks. Plus it is impossible to get a good cut around here!
You did a great job, but I can't imagine how. No way could I have touched a single hair on that sweet, blond head.
He looks like a little angel!
Thanks everyone! Luckily, he was giggling the whole time. When I catch him now, he's petting it. I guess he likes how it feels.
Looks great! :D I wouldn't trust myself cutting other people's hair. Hehe.
Well congratulations! Looks nice and did a good job! I interested in seeing what you will learn next.
Hey! Just found your blog! I have a son who will be 5 at the end of March and as I type this, my Hubby is at the barber shop with him. They both need haircuts. They've brought our little daughter, too, and she'll probably have a trim! I don't trust myself enough to do it myself! You're one brave woman!
And, your son is just adorable! I love his grin! He reminds me of mine!

What a cutie!! Great job!!!!!!!!!!!
I think you did a good job, especially for the first time. I have 4 boys, and although they have been to the barber (except the baby), they all prefer that I cut it for them.
It's a learning experience for sure, and I still make mistakes, but at least the mistakes are not permanent.
This was too fun. I smiled all the way through it, I did it on my husband once. Yiks I think it was the only thing that may have broken us up. You did a great job for your first time.
